description

Visitors will experience Japanese art and culture in this interactive exhibition.  Woodblock prints or Ukiyo-e, "pictures of the floating world," as well as decorative arts and textiles from the Museum's Permanent Collection, will be used to interpret traditional Japanese life and culture.  The exhibition will feature interactive stations for school-aged children who will create a flower arrangement, hear traditional music, see a video of Kabuki, practice Japanese calligraphy and write Haiku. Sponsored in part by the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership, New York.
