Tell Tale Hearts, Ravens & Black Cats: An Artistic Tribute to Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) painted with words, creating poems and stories that conveyed vivid images. This exhibition, sponsored in part by the Community Foundation of Washington County, links the evocative language of Poe with works of art that capure the nature of his writing, such as Jungle and Stone by Leonard Maurer. The exhibition is held in conjunction with "The Big Read" program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts who will be celebrating the writing of Edgar Allan Poe in 2010. "The Big Read" is an initiative by the NEA to "restore reading to the center of American culture."
