Turn Left into Agricultural Education Center


Mission:
To preserve the past, educate and stimulate public awareness of rural life in Washington County prior to 1940.


Museum 1:
May 2001 Museum opened
7200 square feet
Thousands local artifacts-Generously loaned and gifted by local residents in surrounding communities
Exhibits depicting early rural life in Washington County inside First Museum
Country store- on loan from the Washington County Historical Society
3 rooms furnished as a Victorian era farm house
Keedysville post office
Antique funeral sleighs
Numerous Buggies
Farm implements- various makes and models of plows
Blacksmith Shop
Butchering Area
Dr. Fahrney Exhibit- 18th & 19th Century Items from Dr. Peter Fahrney’s office that was previously located in Boonsboro, MD at the Fahrney Keedy Nursing home. Dr. Peter Fahrney’s office is currently on the property awaiting to be restored.

Goes from horse drawn era to motorized era
Conestoga Wagon- used to navigate national road from Baltimore to Wheeling WV on display

1917 & 1927 Tractors
Various Grain and Seed cleaners, cultivators, and implements on display to depict the planting, harvesting, and processing of crops.



Rural Heritage Village:
Farmstead contains small restored log cabin, 1 ½ story log home
Frequent hearth cooking demonstrations depicting 1800’s
1800’s Mt. Tabor Log Church
Four Square Garden- filled with heirloom plants, vegetables, herbs, flowers- was created in the spirit of the early German and Swiss settlers in Washington County- planted in authentic configuration
Bread oven just constructed- will bake authentic artisan bread in wood fired oven and offer bread baking classes
Drying Shed just finished to dry herbs from the garden
Various other projects are in the process of being restored and rebuilt.
